Roxanne graduated from Western Michigan University in 2009 with a master’s degree in Community Counseling.
While working towards her master’s degree, Roxanne was employed at a Center Based school in Kalamazoo. She worked in a classroom with young children of various physical, cognitive and developmental disability levels. This experience provided Roxanne with an understanding regarding the numerous barriers some families face and the support a family could use as they navigate several different systems of care.
Once Roxanne finished her master’s degree, she worked with children and families in the child welfare system. This experience provided Roxanne with a wealth of information regarding how resilient children and families can be when they are empowered to strengthen their abilities to create lasting change. Roxanne then began working to provide comprehensive, intensive home-based treatment for the entire family, with a child with a severe emotional disturbance and multiple service needs. The program offers a variety of treatment services, such as family, individual, couples counseling, as well as parent support and crisis interventions to promote healthy family functioning, support and preserve families, and to reduce the need for out of home placements.
Roxanne is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which aims to help children and adolescents who have experienced one or more traumatic experiences. Roxanne specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, self-esteem, grief/loss, anger management, family issues, parenting support, and life adjustments.
She enjoys doing individual, or family therapy. She works with children, adolescents, teenagers and adults, as well as parent support and couples therapy. Roxanne’s goal is providing a supportive, safe, and non-judgement place for all her clients, to help them reach their goals.
