Common Questions
How long does counseling take and how will I know if I am making progress?
This depends on what goals you set for yourself and what you put into it. Ongoing reflection and assessment is important to understand your progress which will always be discussed throughout your sessions.
As the parent of a struggling child, what is my role in counseling?
The parent-child relationship is critical to helping your child’s progress. It is always best to be as involved as possible with your child, but this doesn’t mean just in the counseling office. This means working together as a team and learning to change your behavior as well to help facilitate growth. Remember, you are your child’s role model. If they see you invested and genuine this will add to their growth and well-being.
What types of issues have you had experience with?
Everyone is very different. There are many different labels (Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Autism, Behavioral Disorders, Mood Disorders, etc.) and they all have a wide range of complex pieces that add to the puzzle. Sometimes they are lifelong struggles. Many have a specific, historical place in your story that need to be processed to move forward. Some are current crises. No matter the intensity it’s important to us that everyone is treated individually. Although we all have experience with many diagnoses, every person walks in with their unique perspective and individual needs.
Is my information confidential?
Absolutely. Everything is HIPAA compliant. Nothing is shared with anyone without written consent. Children under 18 also have rights to confidential sessions. Although parents are encouraged to participate, this is not always the most effective. Autonomy to share your own perspective on your own life is just as important at 14 as it is at 40.
Payment & Insurance
The Wright Counseling accepts BCBS, BCN and private pay.
If you have other insurance, we are happy to provide receipts for out of network compensation. Navigating Out-of-Network can appear intimidating. To determine if your insurance company will reimburse you for payments made for service, please call the mental health 800 number which is on the back of most insurance cards and ask if you have “out-of-network benefits” for mental health services and, if so, at what percentage you will be reimbursed for each session. Obtaining at least a portion of the payment is common but typically it is required to call and get authorization/confirmation prior to submitting your receipt.
TWC does not perform custody evaluations or forensic interviews. All matters involving a legal matter will be referred to our legal team and clients are responsible for all charges incurred.
